Dean & Valentina’s Wedding

Dean and Valentina represent everything we love about our job.

Two people from two different countries who met at a farmer’s market with their kids, later getting married in the rain, this is what makes life extraordinary. Getting to be a part of their wedding day, where their two families came together, umbrellas and all, that’s the cherry on top.

Cheekwood is one of our favorite Nashville venues for good reason. Dean, who’s from Scotland, wore a kilt, as did his (and her) adorable sons, and there really isn’t a better wardrobe choice for a setting as vast and green. Valentina, who got ready with her mom, sister, and daughter on site, was radiant and elated that her love story was coming together like a dream. Their first look was a first look to end all first looks - as happy as a fairytale but real, even if, and especially in the rain. They walked around the gorgeous setting hand in hand, then met with their children who sweetly joined them.

The ceremony and reception took place at their newly finished Brentwood home. What better way to break in a place than to host your own wedding there? Guests from all over arrived to celebrate the couple. A string-lit tent provided shelter from the rain as they ate, drank, and danced.

We’d be lying to say rain isn’t problematic. That it didn’t soak Valentine’s dress or that Dean didn’t have a minor car accident on the way to see his bride (!!). We’d be lying to say dreamy love stories don’t have their flaws. Rain on a wedding day is a great sum of what we know of life - ups and downs, highs and lows, it has and needs it all. We need the rain to realize the sun, to grow, and to know what to hold on to. When we have love, we have everything.
